Gas imports rising in price for Ukraine, again.

The average price of imported gas amounted to $202.5 per 1,000 cubic meters against $182.5 a month earlier. The average price of imported natural gas in December 2020 stood at $202.46 per 1,000 cubic meters, which is 10.9% more than in November 2020.

That's according to the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine with reference to the data of the State Customs Service.

"The State Customs Service of Ukraine has calculated the average cost of imported natural gas, formed in the process of customs clearance from December 1 to December 31, 2020, which is UAH 5,702.83, or $2020.46, per 1,000 cubic meters," the statement reads.

According to the economy ministry, the average price of imported natural gas in Ukraine in December 2020 increased by 14.6% on year (in December 2019 it was $176.69 per 1,000 cubic meters).

The average price of imported gas in November 2020 was $182.5 per 1,000, which is 6% more than in October 2020.

Gas supplying companies within the framework of the competitive natural gas market launched in Ukraine offered the households in January to buy gas at a price from UAH 6.99 to UAH 10.8 per cubic meter, while the minimum price is 11% higher than the December one, and the maximum one is 20.5% higher.

On August 1, a natural gas market for households was opened in Ukraine, allowing consumers to independently choose their gas suppliers. (January 13, 2021)
