China's gas imports drop 10% in January-July.
China’s natural gas imports via pipeline and in the form of LNG during the first seven months of the year were 62.2mn metric tons, down 9.5% year/year, the country’s customs department said on August 7.
The cost of imports during the January-July period was 36.5bn yuan ($5.4bn), up sharply from 24.67bn yuan in the same period of last year reflecting the spike in global gas prices. The natural gas imports in July came in at 8.69mn mt and cost 4.78bn yuan, the customs department said. (August 8, 2022)
