Scotland picks 11 hydrogen projects for funding boost

The Scottish Government has selected 11 projects to share GBP 3.4 million (USD 4.5m/EUR 4m) in funding to support the development of green hydrogen production, improve the hydrogen supply chain and enhance hydrogen transport and storage infrastructure.

The recipients were picked among 18 projects initially shortlisted following a funding call launched in September 2024. Interested parties were invited to apply for match-funding of up to 50% of project costs, with a maximum award of GBP 2 million.

Among the awarded projects, Green Cat Hydrogen Ltd secured the largest single grant of GBP 490,088 for the Creca Hydrogen Facility. The company was the biggest winner in the funding round, selected to receive grants totalling more than GBP 1 million for three separate projects.

The second highest award of GBP 450,619 went to Protium Green Solutions, which was awarded for the Protium Lanark - Hydrogen Island project.
