Mayer Brown advises on Hong Kong FSRU project

Mayer Brown has released a statement claiming that it advised CLP Power Hong Kong Ltd in connection with the Hong Kong Offshore LNG terminal project, which involves the use of floating storage and regasification unit technology for the first time in Hong Kong.

According to the statement, the floating terminal will receive, store, and regasify LNG into two different subsea gas pipelines to supply gas to Castle Peak Power Co. Ltd and Hongkong Electric Co. Ltd, generating power for residents of Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Offshore LNG terminal project is part of the Hong Kong government’s plan to generate 50% of Hong Kong’s electricity from natural gas starting next year.

In the statement, Mayer Brown claims it advised on the FSRU charter and regasification agreements, as well as on operation and maintenance services to be provided to the offshore LNG terminal with Mitsui OSK Lines. Reportedly, MOL will provide the operations and maintenance services of the FSRU vessel and the offshore LNG terminal. (August 9, 2019)
