The Ilginskoye gas condensate field with reserves of 135.4 billion cubic meters of gas and 4.4 million tonnes of condensate has been discovered in Russia's Irkutsk region, the Natural Resources Ministry told Interfax.
The field is considered to be a large one, according to the Russian reserves classification.
It was discovered within the Znamensky block, licensed to Sibgaz LLC. The company made the discovery at its own expense.
Sibgaz is controlled by the privately owned JSC Evolution Holding Company, whose assets, according to its website, include oil and gas and mining sector enterprises.
Sibgaz has held a license for the Znamensky hydrocarbon block in the Irkutsk region's Ust-Udinsky, Zhiglovsky and Kachugsky districts since February 2020. Recoverable probable D1 category gas resources within the Znamensky block were 90 billion cubic meters, according to data for 2002.
