LNG throughput in the Dutch port of Rotterdam increased 15.1 percent in 2025 compared to the year before.
The port, home to Gasunie’s and Vopak’s Gate LNG import terminal, said that total LNG throughput reached 13 million mt last year.
This compares to 11.3 million mt in 2024, which marked a 5.3 percent drope compare ot 2023.
According to the port, the main reason for the growth was that “gas reserves in Europe needed to be replenished more than in 2024.”
The port reported a throughput of 9.6 million mt in the nine-month period last year.
This means that LNG throughput reached 3.4 million mt in the fourth quarter, up from 2.9 millon mt in the same quarter in 2024.
Incoming LNG volumes increased 14.9 percent in 2025 to 12.4 million mt, while outgoing volumes rose 18.9 percent to 0.6 million mt, according to the Rotterdam port’s report.
Europe’s largest bunkering port previously reported record LNG bunkering volumes of 992,911 cbm in 2025.
This represents a 5.5 percent increase from 941,366 cbm in 2024.
In addition, the port said that vessel bunkered 17,644 cbm of bio-LNG last year, represents more than a sixfold increase compared to 2024, when the total amounted to 2,775 cbm.
It is worth mentioning here that Dutch partners Gasunie and Vopak recently took a final investment decision to build the fourth jetty at their Gate LNG terminal in the port of Rotterdam.
