The 137,000-cbm FSRU BW Tatiana has completed its 40th ship-to-ship transfer in El Salvador’s Acajutla, where it serves the Energia del Pacífico LNG-to-power project.
EDP announced on Thursday the arrival of the 40th LNG shipment since the LNG-to-power projects began operations in 2022.
The 2022-built 174,000-cbm SM Bluebird delivered the milestone LNG cargo from Cheniere’s Corpus Christi LNG plant in Texas.
SM Bluebird unloaded 41,444 cbm of LNG, equivalent to 0.93 TBtu of energy, to BW Tatiana, EDP said.
“At EDP, every LNG unloading is much more than a logistical operation: it is part of our commitment to the reliability of the electric grid and El Salvador’s energy security, providing a natural gas-based energy source that has become the country’s primary source of electricity,” the company said.
According to EDP’s social media posts, besides the US, the FSRU received LNG cargoes from Trinidad and Tobago and Nigeria in 2026.
In October 2024, US-based Invenergy and its partners began commercial operations at the EDP LNG-to-power project at the Port of Acajutla in El Salvador.
The project includes a 380-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant, the 137,000-cbm BW Tatiana FSRU, and a 1.8-km subsea pipeline that connects the power plant to the FSRU.
The project also includes two 230-kV electric transmission lines, one of which connects to the Central American Electrical Interconnection System, adding grid reliability to the region.
