Serbia's gas supply deal with Gazprom extended by year-end – report

Serbia's natural gas supply arrangement with Russia's Gazprom has been extended by three months until the end of the year, public broadcaster RTS reported on Wednesday.

Following the extension, Serbia will continue receiving Russian gas under the same favourable conditions as before, RTS quoted Dusan Bajatovic, head of state-owned gas importer and distributor Srbijagas, as saying.

On Saturday, Aleksandar Vucic, who a day later resigned as Serbia's president in order to run in the forhcoming early parliamentary elections, said that Serbia will continue paying 318 euro ($361) per 1,000 cubic metres of gas, instead of the market price of 868 euro, under the new extension of the Gazprom deal.

Serbia, which consumes about 3 billion cubic metres of gas annually, signed a three-year agreement with Gazprom in 2022 for the delivery of up to 2.2 bcm of gas per year. The contract expired in May 2025 and has since been extended several times.

In addition to the gas it buys from Gazprom via the TurkStream pipeline extension through Bulgaria, Serbia also receives Azeri gas through the interconnector with Bulgaria.
